    This program provides a background in reporting, from interviewing to on-line records searches, and in writing, from deadline news stories to longer analytical and feature pieces. Video production for the web is an integral part of news writing in this program, along with the opportunity for specialized, advanced writing classes in political reporting, blogging, literary nonfiction, arts and entertainment journalism, and magazine writing. This discipline emphasizes critical thinking, writing, and an interdisciplinary approach to journalism, all necessary for 21st century journalists and those entering allied fields. Students who seek this major will be required to have two minors including one from the College of Liberal Arts and one in another college.
