This objective of this major is to provide students highly qualified in science and mathematics who are interested in a career in secondary science teaching with a broad interdisciplinary academic program and experiences that will prepare them for this career choice. The program is designed to prepare students to receive the secondary science composite certification in life, earth, and physical sciences. In particular, the courses chosen encompass the science composite areas test by the State of Texas and TExES. The degree program is a collaboration of the Colleges of Science, Geosciences, and Education and Human Development. Students in this major are also required to complete two minors including (A) Applied Learning in STEM Education and (B) Choose from Biology, Chemistry, Geoscience, or Physics.
