Minimum Period For Students To Reply To Employment Offers

The Texas A&M Career Center staff concurs with the judgement of the Principles for Professional Conduct Committee of the National Association of Colleges and Employers that "the best employment decisions are those made with the greatest amount of information." Further, "students given sufficient amount of time to gather thorough information related to all available job opportunities are more likely to make good long-term employment decisions and less likely to renege on job acceptances." The Career Center staff acknowledges employers' desire to have definite timeframes for the acceptance or rejection of job offers by students.

Therefore, to provide students with sufficient time to make a considered employment decision and to allow employers the flexibility needed to compete for talent, it is the recommendation of the TAMU Career Center that all employment offers extended to students must remain open for a minimum period of two weeks.
