Cooperative Education is a planned and supervised work experience that allows students to earn both money and academic credit. Normally, students alternate periods of work and school in their second, third and fourth years here at Texas A&M. Co-op is not a summer-only program and students will complete 2 or 3 work terms with an employer. Engineering students, especially, are encouraged to complete three terms resulting in 52 weeks of work experience. Co-op is an excellent way to gain in-depth, hands-on experience. The multiple terms allow you to increase responsibility and possibly rotate through departments. One real advantage to Co-op is that students gain experience in their chosen field before graduation.
