Some important things for you to remember while you are away on your co-op assignment:
- To submit your work address, simply go to your on-line account and enter the information under "I've got a Co-op job!" Please also provide any additional information regarding contact information, salary, and supervisor information.
- During the first week, meet with your supervisor to discuss: your work schedule; responsibilities and assignment(s); expectation for performance and how you will be evaluated (give "Employer's Evaluation" form to your supervisor); your Co-op Report and company requirements for review of proprietary information. Use the "Questions to Ask Supervisor" as a guide for beginning the discussion.
Periodically during the work term, ask your supervisor for feedback on your performance and any suggestions for improvement.
During the week before your report is due, ask your supervisor to complete the Employer's Evaluation form; ask for a meeting to discuss your performance evaluation, if possible.
Request the following information after the employer's evaluation session:
- Will you be invited back for a subsequent work term?
- What will you be doing the next work term?
- Where will you be working?
- What is the starting date and to whom will you report?
- Will you receive a salary increase?
If you cannot get this information before leaving the work site, contact your employer after returning to campus.
