Closing It Up

Before you end your visit, make sure you have taken advantage of this opportunity to gather more information or to clarify information from the day's activities. Here's a checklist of things to consider before you leave:

  • Have all of your questions been answered or addressed?
  • Do you have a thorough understanding of the role you would play in the company?
  • After visiting the office, do you feel you have a realistic job preview?
  • Do you have a business card or a written contact name for everyone you met during your visit?
  • Did you evaluate the company's behavior, environment, and culture to your satisfaction?
  • Did you ask for a next step?

Taking the above steps during your visit will help to ensure that you maximize this stage of your interview process. Remember to follow-up your visit with a thank-you note to anyone who spent time with you, including the individual who coordinated your visit.
