Preparation

  • Ask for your itinerary before you arrive. This will help you prepare and know what to expect from your visit.
  • Know the company cold! Do your research and your homework to make it evident that you know as much information as possible about your prospective employer. Take advantage of company web sites, brochures, and annual reports to gather data. If you have the opportunity to ask for additional information during your initial interview, don't be shy. Recruiters like to see a proactive approach to learning more about their company. The Accenture Career Resources Library, located in the Career Center in 209 Koldus, is an excellent source of company information.
  • Review the job description before the office visit. This interview will be more focused on your skills and experience as they apply to that job description. Keep in mind that the individuals interviewing you during an office visit are your potential co-workers and managers. They will ask more technical, job-specific questions than were asked at the initial interview. Be prepared to provide specific detail in your ability to contribute to that role. Be creative! You've gotten this far. Make sure to distinguish yourself from everyone else.
  • Always take more copies of your resume and other relevant documentation, even if you have given your interviewer a package. Also, it's always a plus to leave something new behind during your office visit. Documents such as letters of accomplishments and copies of awards are nice things to bring with you.
  • Prepare good and insightful questions. Keep in mind that recruiters hear the same standard questions from candidates each day. Make sure your questions stand out because they are well researched.
  • Remember who you talked to during your pre-office visit and what role they played. Refer to those people by name in the office visit interview.
  • A site visit usually involves many interviews with a number of different people. You may be asked the same or similar questions by several individuals. It is important to answer consistently.
