Networking - Etiquette

• Know your purpose for networking
• Do your homework
• Don’t act desperate
• Remembering that networking is a two-way street
• LISTEN more than you speak
• Respect your contact’s time
• Get permission to use contact’s name when speaking with others
• Be careful as to your use of the word “networking”
• Don’t be pushy and aggressive
• Keep up correspondence with your contacts after you land a job!
• Do not ask for positions or job openings.  Rather, ask if they know anyone that might need help.
