Action Verbs

Use action verbs when describing your experiences/accomplishments on your resume, in your job search letters, and during your interview. Skills you will bring to an employer can be categorized into three groups: how you interact with people, things, and ideas.

Examples of Action Verbs

People:
Accomplished, activated, administered, advised, affected, arranged, assembled, assisted, catalogued, collaborated, conducted, coordinated, directed, explained, managed, motivated, organized, programmed, promoted, stimulated, supervised, taught.

Things: Built, calculated, changed, compiled, completed, constructed, created, evaluated, examined, expanded, facilitated, familiarized, formulated, improved, invented, prepared, programmed, revised, specified, used.

Ideas: Adapted, analyzed, coordinated, defined, devised, established, explained, illustrated, investigated, modified, proposed, wrote.
