Interview No Shows and Late Cancellations

The following policy applies to the TAMU Career Center On-Campus Interview process.

Policy Guidelines:
When a student fails to keep an appointment for an employment interview, the occurrence is professionally unacceptable. It is expensive in terms of lost corporate time and is detrimental to other Texas A&M students’ ability to arrange employment interviews. It is considered a late cancellation if a student cancels an interview after 4:00pm, two business days prior to the actual interview. When a student cancels late, the same detrimental effects occur. Therefore, no-shows and late cancellations will not be tolerated in the On-Campus Interview process.

The following procedures deal with interview no-shows and late cancellations:
1. Upon notification by a recruiter that a no-show or late cancellation has occurred, the student is immediately blocked from accessing the AggieLaunch system.
2. A Career Center staff member will contact the student, notifying him/her of the block placed on their AggieLaunch account and the actions required to correct the situation.

Some coop schedules may not allow for these deadlines. Please see your coop advisors if you have any questions or concerns regarding this policy.

Action:
First Offense
1. The student’s account is blocked by the Career Center for one semester
2. All scheduled interviews will be cancelled
3. The students’ department head will be notified.

The student must then write a letter of apology to the interviewer/employer, and bring the following items to the Career Center during regular office hours within two weeks of the no-show or late cancellation:

a) An original, signed letter
b) A photocopy of the letter for Career Center records
c) A stamped enveloped, addressed to the employer - do not seal the envelope

A Career Center staff member will approve the content of the letter and then mail the letter. If the student fails to provide this letter within two weeks the student will be blocked from the system for one year.

Subsequent Offense
The student is barred from further privileges extended by the Career Center.

Appeal
Any student who feels he/she has been incorrectly identified as a no-show or late cancellation may request an individual review of the circumstances by the Director of Interview Services.
