How do I choose a Major?
If you are really uncertain about what major to choose, there are numerous aptitude tests that are available to help. The Career Center offers the SIGI 3 online career assessment and the Student Counseling Service has a series of test you can take that will recommend specific majors where your natural abilities and interests would make a good fit. You can then bring your list of potential majors to the Career Center where we can show you for each major how many companies have job postings (Full-time, Co-op and Intern), what kind of job positions/titles they are interviewing for, and what kind of average salary to expect. This will help you make a more informed and reasoned decision when you choose your major.
What if my GPR isn't high enough for the Major I want?
If you find that your GPR isn't high enough to be accepted for upper level classes in your particular major, it may be time to consider other majors. The Career Center can help you identify similar majors and the job prospects in those fields. Most companies will consider multiple majors when they have a job posting. We can help you by reviewing the similarities and differences in the job market between specific majors.
