There are many aspects to the job search process. From writing a resume, to
interviewing, to evaluating and negotiating your salary, the job search
process can be stressful if you do not take the steps to prepare
yourself well.
You may be considering graduate school instead of a career.
It is equally important to prepare in advance. Many programs require that you
apply a year or more in advance. You may want to apply for assistantships or
fellowships to help pay expenses. We collaborate with the Office of Graduate Studies to teach a workshop to
help you prepare for this process, but you should start early. The Graduate and Professional School
Fair occurs every fall where you can learn about graduate programs at
many different universities. The Career Center also hosts a workshop on Applying
to Graduate School.
It is never too early to learn how to make yourself competitive, whether for
a job or graduate school. We offer a wide variety of
workshops to help you in your effort. We can assist you with many subjects,
from researching a company, to feeling confident at a career fair, to being
comfortable interacting with company representatives at all levels. Even if you
have gone to some workshops as an underclassman, we suggest that you attend
again, as we are constantly revising and updating our information in order to
provide you with the best data available.
