  • Communication

The field of communication focuses on how people use messages to generate meaning within and across various contexts, cultures, channels, and media. Communication is commonly defined as the sharing of symbols over distances in space and time. Hence, communication studies encompass a wide range of topics and contexts ranging from face-to-face conversation to speeches to mass media outlets such as television broadcasting.

Communication study, as a discipline, is also often interested in how audiences interpret information and the political, cultural, economic, and social dimensions of speech and language in context. The Bachelor of Arts in Communication teaches how to influence and persuade others through the use of language, visuals and media. Coursework gives students a background in the processes and theories of communication as well as in the skills that are so valuable in the working world.
