    • Dance Science

    The Bachelor of Science in Dance Science is for students with prior dance experience who are interested in careers in dance education or dance science. The degree's flexibility allows those interested in professional school after graduation the ability to fulfill their prerequisites and focus on the art and science of dance. Many students go on to study physical therapy, occupational therapy, or medicine. The educators who graduate from this program have the knowledge and skills to train dancers at the highest level while decreasing the prevalence of injury.

    The Dance Science program is designed to educate the full dancer through courses in dancer wellness and technique courses focused on proper biomechanics; technical courses in ballet, modern, jazz, and hip-hop; dance research, anatomy, nutrition, conditioning, injury prevention and care; and dance pedagogy, production, and composition. The program also offers students opportunities in choreography, performance, and research.

    A degree in Dance Science gives the dancer career opportunities beyond the performer. Dance scientists are professionals who are employed by dance companies and dance training facilities throughout the world to devise effective training programs as well as advise dancers regarding nutrition and injury prevention/care.
